About Us

Welcome to the Optimist Club of West Lorne, Friend of Youth!  Our club was chartered in 1975 and as of May 2023 we have 46 members.  With a focus on youth, local Optimists volunteer their time to enrich our communities with events, activities, capital projects, and more.  Meetings are held monthly between September and June, and events and fundraising activities take place throughout the year.

Activities and Events

Kids craft nights and teen cooking boxes are examples of popular activities for local youths.  Community members of all ages come together for Easter egg hunts, the Mother’s Day road race, Show and Shine Car Show, and the annual Santa Claus parade.  These events and more are organized and run by members of your local Optimist Club.

Community Support

Your local Optimist Club also provides support for various groups and organizations.  Our school backpack program, food bank support, and free swimming or skating are great examples.  Reach out to the club if you would like more info.

Capital Projects

Everyone can enjoy time spent in Miller Park.  Climb on the accessible playground or ride on the skate park, then cool off at the splash pad or in the shade of the pavilion.  All this was possible due to the hard work, fundraising, and planning by Optimist volunteers and community partners.
